A SOLUTION FOR THE THIRD MILLENNIUM

A proposal for a United Nations Spiritual Forum for World Peace has been published by the Lama Gangchen World Peace Foundation. The second edition of 5000 books setting out the proposal was released 4th May 1999 on the occasion of the First International Conference on Peace Education for Better Living in the Third Millennium, jointly organised by the International Association of Educators for World Peace and the Lama Gangchen World Peace Foundation.

The booklet containing the proposal will be presented to United Nations agencies and governments as well as religious and spiritual organisations world wide. It contains a radical and visionary, yet completely feasible idea to incorporate through the formal institutional structures of the United Nations, a United Nations Spiritual Forum for World Peace.

The Proposal sets out concepts, objectives and complementary outcomes. It points out that as governments of the United Nations Member States cannot represent religions and spiritual movements, it is time to give them official recognition and allow their voices to be heard in the noble task of building world peace.
